Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Expeditions
Achieve the most enjoyable part of your Award with supervised practice and qualifying journeys hiking three of Sydney’s most iconic bushwalks. From Royal National Park in the south and the Blue Mountains in the west, to the Great North Walk in Sydney’s north, our local knowledge helps ensure your Duke of Edinburgh expeditions will be safe, personal challenges.
Bronze Expedition
The Bronze Expedition traces Royal National Park’s 26km Coast Track. This stunning two day, one night, coastal walk between Bundeena and Otford is the perfect introduction to your Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. Mildly challenging but immensely rewarding, the Coast Track’s beauty is in its wild diversity. Camping by a sandy beach to walking through lush rainforest, you’ll create memories to last a lifetime. If you plan your expedition between June and October you can also spot migrating humpback whales from the towering sandstone cliffs.
Silver Expedition
The Silver Expedition follows the Blue Mountains’ famous 45km Six Foot Track. This three day, two night, bushwalk follows the original horse track between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves. Longer, more difficult than, and vastly different from the Coast Track, you will enjoy the changes in scenery, vegetation and altitude as you journey through a more typical Aussie bush setting. Camping beside Cox’s River and then high on the Black Range, these campsites provide a new taste of what you can experience in the outdoors.
Gold Expedition
The Gold Expedition traverses a 44km section of the Great North Walk between Hornsby and the Hawkesbury River. This four day / three night journey is shorter in distance than the silver walk on the Six Foot Track but significantly more challenging and rewarding. Your expedition will take you through Galston Gorge, along Berowra Creek, passing over several ridges in the Muogamarra Nature Reserve, and through Cowan and Jerusalem Bay. Enjoy sweeping views of the Hawkesbury River before completing your Duke of Edinburgh expeditions at Brooklyn Bridge. Camping beside a creek, a lookout and a dam, once again you are treated to a range of outdoor experiences to prepare you for life in the outdoors.
