Birdwatching Tour
1 day tour
Up to 8 km / 5 miles walking 7 hours
Discover the abundant and varied birdlife of Royal National Park with acclaimed birdwatching author Steve Anyon-Smith.
More than 300 species have been recorded within the park boundaries, including the Rock Warbler, Southern Emu-Wren, Green Catbird and a variety of seabirds and shorebirds. This puts it on a par with immensely larger parks like Yellowstone (300 species - 2 million hectares) and Kakadu (275 species - 1 million hectares).
The amazing variety of natural settings allows a diversity that is rarely found in an area of this size combining heath, rainforest, a mixture of other forest types, ocean, estuarine and freshwater habitats.
Expert guide Steve Anyon-Smith is the author of Birdwatching Guide to Royal and Heathcote National Parks and has been guiding individuals, community groups, students and international birding tour groups in Royal for over 15 years. He says,
“Where else in the world could we watch the magnificent wandering albatross, admire the speed of the swiftest living thing - the peregrine falcon - or admire the beauty of the world’s greatest mimic, the superb lyrebird, all in one day and in the same area.”
This is a memorable day for birdwatching beginners, enthusiasts or lovers of nature.
INCLUSIONS:
* Expert birdwatching guide with commentary
* Return city transfers and transport within national park
* Royal National Park entry fees
* Fully catered with healthy lunch
* Royal Coast Walks goody bag with fruit, energy snacks and sports drink.
